February 2014 Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Award Winners

Fri, 07 March 2014

These 4 young entrepreneurs have each won £1000 for their start-up in February's Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Awards!
Giles Mitchell (Office Pantry)
Office Pantry, known as Our Honest Foods at the time of the award, is on a mission to fill the awkward gaps for the adventurous snackers of Britain. Since founding the company, the business has served the office workers of Bath, delivered over 200 snack boxes to their monthly subscribing customers, attended numerous markets, and delivered 400 bespoke boxes to a prominent Bath hotel. The business relies on the honesty of the customers to pay for the price marked items by placing the corresponding amount in the built in honesty box. With a 96% honesty rate from customers, the company is now catering for those at home, sending out their Best of British Snackoria, or boxes full of heavenly snack products. These are delivered monthly and fit through the letterbox, containing a bevy of independently produced British snack foods.
Sten Vermeiren (London Surf Breaks) (pictured)
London Surf Breaks currently takes surfers from London to UK surfing destinations, and is now launching Global Surf Breaks, taking surfers overseas. As an activity tour provider, the company appeals to three levels of surfing ability, including Surfers, Dabblers and Samplers, who have never been before but would like to give it a go for the experience. The trips are open all year round, as the summer is warmer but it can be busy and the waves are typically small, while the winter is colder but the waves are bigger and better.
Amy Win (4Lunch)
4Lunch is a social enterprise start-up that delivers cooking workshops for young people, improving employability through food. 4Lunch offers the ‘Cook Inspire Change’ workshop programme, which gives participants the exciting opportunity to sell their own food to the public on the 4Lunch market stall. The ‘Cook Inspire Change’ workshop programme pushes the boundaries by challenging young people to apply their new cookery and sales skills to a real work environment. Participants will be pushed to think entrepreneurially and creatively, and the business will recognise the achievement of the participants through accreditation.
Julieta Ose (Oxyose)
Julieta Ose was awarded £1,000 for her business in a special Shell LiveWIRE elevator pitch competition that took place at NACUE's 'Student Enterprise Conference 2014' held at Sheffield Hallam University on 15th-16th February 2014. Her business, Oxyose, produces a health drink that contains natural fruit juice, herbal extracts and vitamins, as well as pure oxygen, which the business infuses into the products. The products have a long list of health benefits to the elderly, children, and pregnant women in particular.
Commiserations to Bobur Ashruov (ConcepTwo Ltd), Arran Ingram (ALPrint), Maria Marcos (The Flavour Club), Sanjeev Dass (Dass Design), Victoria Robinson (Smarti Paints Limited), David Scotford (Vacancy Hunter Ltd), Jake Stainer (Papora Ltd) who were shortlisted but did not win this time and are encouraged to reapply.
