UK energy entrepreneur wins in Shell global innovation prize

Thu, 15 November 2018

Shell LiveWIRE UK alumnus Josh Burton, of Metronome Energy, wins $20,000 at global awards ceremony.
Josh Burton, an innovator from the UK, received the top award under the category of Energy Solutions in this year’s Shell LiveWIRE Top Ten Innovators Awards, a global competition which highlights and rewards entrepreneurs that demonstrate excellence in innovation.

Metronome Energy has developed low-cost technology which balances demands on the national energy grid during peak times.

Our congratulations go to Josh who emerged as the top winner after an intense business pitch competition, beating two other entrepreneurs, HySiLabs, from France, and Alternate Energy, from Nigeria.

Josh Burton from Metronome Energy said: “I couldn’t believe it when I realised we had won. This $20k and the accompanying support will help us to scale up the business. This means we can help hundreds more farmers to develop new income streams that benefits not just them, but also the grid and all other energy users.”
