These four young entrepreneurs have each won £1,000 for their start-up in April's Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Awards!
Georgina Bullen (Team Insight Limited)
Team Insight aims to take the Paralympic sport of Goalball into the workplace as a teambuilding experience. As well as promoting trust, communication and teamwork through the sport, Team Insight brings visual impairment awareness to their clients in a fun and unique way. The business has already begun to set up key links with organisations that are keen to offer the service to their corporate sponsors.
Victoria Robinson (Smarti Paints Limited)
Smarti Paints Limited is a social enterprise which was set up to provide adults with disabilities access to social activities that promote social interaction and the learning of new crafting skills within a comfortable environment. This can help build confidence and, in time, help participants to develop life skills and independence. The business is a community based organisation that supports adults with disabilities to craft in a fun, affordable and educational way. Through their classes, the business aims to help promote independent choice and the development of social skills and crafting techniques.
Jake Stainer (Papora Ltd)
Papora is the new way to learn a foreign language. It combines cutting-edge online and mobile language learning software with a global online community of language learners at an affordable price. The service offers courses in English and Spanish and features a video-audio chat system, lessons that are based on real life situations, social immersion, culture and grammar, and links online language-learning with native speakers.
Styliana Vasili (Viva la Vita Ltd)
Viva la Vita aims to provide a new, fun and easy way to book fitness classes. Viva la Vita have created an app which refreshes daily to provide a shortlist of the best fitness classes happening in London today and tomorrow. Bookings are easily made through the app and proof of purchase is stored within the application as a ticket for reference and admittance. Viva la Vita have successfully partnered with 40 fitness providers, including member only gyms which have agreed to waiver this requirement for app users. Viva la Vita hope to expand and introduce their app into other cities, such as New York, once they have successfully launched in London.
