Haidin Rashid Wins October's Shell LiveWIRE Smarter Future Award!

Thu, 01 December 2016

Haidin Rashid won October’s Shell LiveWIRE Smarter Future Award for his business, Materialize.X.
Materialize.X takes low grade, low value biomass and turns it into something valuable. Materialize.X has developed a cheap, organic and sustainable binding formula that creates a tough yet temporary biomaterial that can be used for a variety of different applications. Bi-Organic is a new bio-composite, a material developed using the leftover plant matter from algae bio-farms from bio-fuels, cosmetics and food industries. When the oil is extracted from algae to produce energy, biomass is left behind; at the moment, the only uses are for animal feed and mariculture. The business’ first application with this material is low cost and biodegradable road and flooring for short events such as festivals and exhibitions where affordable infrastructure is required for a short time.

Commiserations to James Okwudili (Vibro Ultra), Rebecca Sloan (Piddle Patch), Sylvia Sun (GreenRide Sharing), Andrea Valente (LEEV) who were shortlisted but did not win this time and are encouraged to reapply.
