January 2014 Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Award Winners

Mon, 03 March 2014

These 4 young entrepreneurs have each won £1000 for their start-up in January's Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Awards!
Ben Smith (Frumtious)
Frumtious is a health-conscious natural food company, producing healthy, fruit-based snacks suitable for all diets and ages. Specifically targeting health-conscious young adults and parents, Frumtious is committed to using only natural ingredients to create its range of products. The flagship Frumtious product is a pot of real fruit jelly, made from blended fruits and a vegan setting agent. As a standalone product it’s a great way to enjoy fruit on-the-go, or you can use it to liven up porridge or yoghurt. Frumtious products contain real ‘super fruits’, which contribute towards your daily dose of fruit and vegetables and provide a variety of health benefits.

Daniel Murray (Grabble Limited)
Grabble lets online shoppers save their favourite fashion products from any other site and organise into personalised collections, using the business’ ‘Grab’ button. The service also sends online shoppers sale alerts on items they are interested in, enhancing their browsing experience. The business enables retailers to sell online and leverage their existing social media communities to share collections of their favourite or relevant products without any technical integration, cost or time expense. The business currently has 50,000+ products in its listing, all of which have been ‘grabbed’ from a retailer’s website or added by the retailer. Grabble gives consumers an easy way to follow brands they love, and receive sale alerts for the products they want.

Ore Oyeleke (The Surprise Concierge)
The Surprise Concierge organises bespoke and creative surprise experiences as an innovative gift alternative. Rather than giving your loved ones the same gifts over and over again (clothing, jewellery or the ever pervasive spa day vouchers), The Surprise Concierge organises a surprise for them that they'll truly never forget, and won't want to return to the store. The business’ offering ranges from organising a surprise private dinner for two with an in-house chef for the shy and retiring type, to organising flashmob greetings that dance to the extrovert’s favourite song.

James Bettney (Takuro Apparel LTD) (pictured)
Takuro Apparel aims to make premium quality products for the European and Western fashion markets, which are made from the finest Himalayan fabrics and ethically produced in Nepal. Their goal is to build a large international fashion network that keeps quality and equality as its core beliefs. Takuro Apparel wants to work with outcast widows in Nepal who have suffered generations of discrimination, leaving them with no means to support their families. With the help of Women for Human Rights, Takuro employs these women to manufacture bags and apparel, giving them fair and sustainable employment.

Commiserations to Nicholas Voegt (Together Fitness Ltd), Stephanie Woolven (StephieAnn Design), Gavin Bell (Alba Fitness), Sanjeev Dass (Dass Design), Joanna Jaeger-Booth (My Student Style), Murat Yusuf (HighStreet Bookings), who were shortlisted but did not win this time and are encouraged to reapply.
