January 2010 Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Award winner Tristan Watson is all ready to launch his new website www.loveyourlarder.com.
The venture will act as online famers market where customers can have the pleasure of buying high quality, locally sourced goods in one easy to use site rather having to trail through several sites. Beginning in the North East Tristan hopes to eventually cover the whole country.
Speaking about the business Tristan, 28, said: “We looked at online sales and found it wasn’t something that was working for many small businesses. The internet is meant to democratise everything but it’s still dominated by the big retailers. It’s leaving the small guys out in the cold, and they don’t necessarily get a good deal from the supermarkets.
We were talking to producers who got a grant for e-commerce and never had a single sale. It’s no good being online if people don’t know about it. This is about giving people access to all these customers and giving the customers access to things they might not be able to get elsewhere.
It’s about supporting the guys that are doing something very special and interesting that people don’t necessarily know about.”
Tristan won his Shell LiveWIRE Grand Ideas Award under the project name 'Kwince' and you can watch his elevator pitch in our Video Lounge.
