Alison-Jayne Matthews won the 1991 Shell LiveWIRE Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award with her business, Alison-Jayne Couture.
Established in 1991 and situated in an attic studio on the trendy Lisburn in Belfast, Alison-Jayne Couture specialises in the creation of one-off, handmade, high quality bridal, evening and theatrical gowns.

Alison's experience in both historical costume and the couture industry, coupled with her fascination of theatrical design, provided the inspiration for her sumptuous gowns, which have constantly attracted a clientele both nationally and internationally. Alison's previous work experience has included being couture assistant to David Emanuel in Knightsbridge, London. Alison-Jayne has over 20 years experience in couture dress designing and each dress is designed and made to order and never repeated.
Alison was presented with the coveted trophy and a cheque for £3,000 at the final in London by Sir Brian Wolfson, then Chairman of the National Training Task Force. In winning, Alison became the first person from Northern Ireland to be crowned Shell LiveWIRE Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
