Best of luck with the website! I had seen the karts and kites before but only just saw the surfing with a kite on the telly the other day! Looks like so much fun! Do you know if there is anywhere in Scotland where you can have a go?

looks nice, but your website uses tables for presentation, which, as per W3C, should be avoided and replaced with XHTML and CSS.

Tables should be reserved for delivering tabular based data only!

True but the site is still very well presented. Just because it doesn't use XHTML and CSS doesn't detract from that.

It is the way forward and should be encouraged but have a look at the biggest sites on the web and they are still Transitional not strict.

the majority of websites are using old technology and haven't been updated for a long while.

W3c are industry standards so unless you want to be offering customers non-industry compliant websites i'd recommend everyone follows them!

as for my website, it never helps when you replace your index file with the wrong one!

you must have been quick as it was only down for a matter of minutes!

I've always seen load of kite stuff going on at St.Andrew's West Sands beach. Never had a go myself but would love to learn.

Jonno are you talking about XHTML Transitional or Strict?

If you're talking about strict the only ones that are failing people are the browser manufacturers as they all have a slightly different implementation and therefore require hacks and fixes just to get the damn thing looking right!

I'm in the process of building a dynamically driven portal with a colleague at the moment using XHTML strict and I can tell you its a nightmare.

Until browsers all work the same there is not going to be a rapid shift from Transitional to Strict...

Jonno - I agree with Phil, I think the shift will be very gradual just becuase the technology isn't there completely 100%.

I built a site www.media83.co.uk completely in CSS/XHTML not a table in site just for mucking round with, but was alot of work just make it work both in Firefox and explorer.

Semantic, layouts have been available for several years now and are compatible with 97% of the internet.

If you don't beleive me, check out some of the layouts on this site!

If you find making a CSS/XHTML more time consuming, complicated, buggy etc i'd recommend you do some research on Semantic XHTML/CSS markup as these are all advantages of a Semantic approach.

These are industry stanards, something the internet has been needing for years now, and they are here to stay!

I've had a bit of a rosting from one of the powerkite forums for having too many links to external sites and being 'unethical'

so that's got me down a bit.

I'm sure linking to other sites is a benefit to that site?
