Do I need to register as self employed?

If i'm setting up a 'club' like just a group of people, who become a member via a website for free....organise to go on outings etc. do I need to register as anything.

No money is intending to be made as of yet...so is insurance needed? (the people already have their own personal insurance) and do you need to register as self employed for this?

I doubt you need to register as self employed as you are just a facilitator. As for insurance you'll need to make it clear that you have limited liability otherwise you could be held responsible for any advice you give or endorse.
