Setting up a Travel Agency

Hi Everyone

Does anyone have any experience in setting up a Travel Agency at all?
I would like to start selling holidays, hotels, flights etc for various companies but am not sure how to go about setting up accounts with these companies and getting commission etc from them.

Any information would be appreciated

Matt - are you looking at an online travel agency or an actual shop?

I know that post Sept 11 the travel market has been hit hard and I'm not sure if its had sufficient time to recover. The looming threat of war and terrorist activity I think can only discourage people.

Hi Matt

To sell flights and package holidays you need be ATOL/ABTA bonded - which is pretty expensive.

However, one way of getting around this is by buying into a franchise - such as that offered by the Global Travel Group ( I think there website is www.globaltravelgroup.com).
