I import giftware, novelty items and homeware to the UK from Asia. I would like to get these products stocked in as many high street shops and multi-outlet retailers as possible as fast as possible. Unfortunately, I'm only a one-man-band so what is the best way?

Bearing in mind I'm just starting up and don't have enough money to employ a sales team.

Is the best or only way to take on sales agents? Where can I find them and what kind of commission levels do they take?

It may be possible to contact the buyers at the high street shops (I'm presuming you mean national chains). You should also find out about exhibitions and trade fairs, where you could showcase your products - your local Business Link may be able to tell you about these.
