Launch Of New Magazine

Hello everyone,

Is there anyone out there that has been involved with the Launch of a magazine or know How I can get in contact with anyone that can advise us on some basics. Most importantly generating advertising sales and some Editorial issues.

Any advice is valued no matter how small thanks.

Kay-D

P.s the magazine is a Free consumer magazine targeting a Niche of the 18-25 ABC1.

What do you mean Launch?

Launch party and promotion, or design and production. We can help in any of these areas if you want to discuss in more detail s.fletcher@redwellymedia.co.uk

I've been involved in some magazine launches, although working mainly on the editorial side. Feel free to drop me a line or post here if you have any specific questions...

Mags

Hi,

Sorry for hijacking this post but I'm planning to get a magazine published.

I would be grateful for any advice, e.g how do I approach shops/organisation to hold my mags in their premises so interested customer will pick it up. Do I have to offer the owner of the shop some kind of discount or some incentive for promoting my mag?

Would be grateful for some tips and advice on sourcing the contents and maybe inviting some possible contributors for features etc..

Sam is it possible you can email me some prices on print and design. I can't access your site. I need some figures for my plan.

Thank you,

Ann

Hi Sam, thanks for your reply
What We mean by Launch is we are in the start up phase creating a Mock copy of the magazine for marketing and advertising sales.
Further more we are interested in confirming from experts or those experience in the field on what best to focus our energies on and what should be re-considered.
I have tried to check your site and I bet you already know is under construction right. (lol)
Please contact me regarding any info or contacts.
I will contact you will the specs of the magazine shortly so as to some quotes

I'd highly recommend Sam Fletcher - he posted above. He's a good guy and does some great design work. He also specialises in magazine design and production.

Cheers

Alex

Its not always recommended to disclose too much information over a Forum. Moreover I can tell you, the magazine is a free consumer magazine targeting a Niche of the 18-25 UK wide A, B, C1.
Its young, humorous, bold, daring and delivers specialist services to this Niche.

And if you are running/ or planning a magazine as well, you shouldn't feel threatened. drop me a line on my email address and maybe we might have something to share.

It depends on how many copies you are wanting to shift - magazines are generally distributed through one of the 3 key wholesalers - Menzies, WHSmith News, or Dawson.

If you are just doing a local magazine, pitch to a few local newsagents and they might stock it, but will probably expect sale or return, plus at least 25% markup.

If I can help further please get in touch.

Regards,
Richard
