*My site name isn't working!*

I know the previous designer has taken the 'in construction' page down, but now it just says 'could not be found'

It doesn't go to 'this page has been registered' or anything at all?

any ideas as to why?

Is there an index.htm page at all on the server or has everything been removed.

Server wasn't responing to a "ping" at 11.57am.

I think the server is offline, wait and bit and it should come back once they sort it out.

edit - even the DNS servers are down, so i'd expect alot more customers than you are affected.

Your host (or the host your host uses) website is also down.. Seems like they have network problems.

checked out your dns records and attempted to ping them and it failed to resolve.

Guys, My site isn't built or hosted anywhere any more, remember my post about me and the designer falling out? So I know he has taken down the construction page.

I'm just wondering how you get it to go back to at least being registered...

Also, can I put up a temporary page via something like my blueyonder webspace?

If so, how?

you need to change the domain name servers over to another host, or see if your domain provider gives you the option of "domain forwarding" so you can forward all traffic to, for example, your blueyonder web space.

To even receive a "This domain has been registered" message means the server needs to be online.

I think you registered with 123reg right? ... I'm not sure (as im not a customer) if they allow domain forwarding...

If they do, you could point it to your free space.

The 123-reg control panel will allow you to specify new name servers to some of your choice i.e. blueyonder.

it also allows domain forwarding!

log in at 123-reg.co.uk

select your domain

select change nameservers

set 1 and 2 to:

ns.123-reg.co.uk and ns2.123-reg.co.uk (leave other 2 boxes blank)

hit "change nameservers".

go back to menu

select web forwarding

select "Framed web-forwarding to a single page"

then enter the web address you waat traffic to your domain to go to.

hit update!

sorted!

LOL!! I tried again and was like "what the hay? It's not working! "

I need to set up the page anyway, so it will give me sometime.

I also realised that I can set up web forwarding from here, completely forgot that went through the previous designer too

That 123 register is a very useful site.
