*Will I get into trouble*
If I use a logo which was designed by someone I'm no longer talking to?
If so, could I alter it slightly then use it? x

Have you paid for it?

Well no, it was a 'friend' doing it. I was going to pay, but the whole thing didn't go through.

Then if you have not paid for it, it remains your friends property/copyright.
I'm sure graphic designers on here will give you a quote of a logo :') |

Hi Charlene
Even a heavily modified logo could land you in hot water! Don't do it!!! Mark

Good Idea, thanks Martin, it's not like my ideas didn't go into it, why should I lose out completely?

well, yes - to a point...but (IMHO) if you commission someone to do work, whether logo design or something else, then it is bad form to renege on that and withhold payment for services rendered....ESPECIALLY if you are going to use the logo (!)
(Personally,I would offer them the money and make clear it is specifically for use of the logo .) |
