Affiliate site recommendations

Hi guys,

Im looking into possibly setting up as an affiliate to bring in some extra dollars and wondered if there are any out there that you guys would recommend.

Im still running habanero quite successfully now and want to add to that by running a few other money generating sites so any advice you could throw my way would be great.

Matt

I use adsense on a few of my personal sites and it seems to pay. The problem you may have is it matches adverts to the content on the site so you can't really sell anything as your competitiors will be plastered all over the site.

But as I say for a hobby site it is brilliant one other thing is the payout rate is quite high.

also tradedoubler.co.uk > they have lots of sites where you get paid per enquiry or form that is filled in.

Another good one is valueclick.co.uk/.com but you really need an established website with lots of hits, or you could be ecconomical with the truth about how many hits you get but they may not accept you. Value click pays 10p per click which is alot in todays world.

Hi Matt,

Have a read through the threads on this forum. With both merchants and affiliates there you should get an idea of what each wants from the other.

Hi Matt

I can recommend Trade Doubler, DGM, Affiliate Window and Paid On Results. You can read up on all the above on the community forum as Belinda mentions.

If you are looking at marketing them via Google Adwords it's worth reading Googles affiliate marketing rules. These changed this month to only allow one ad per domain name. This will cut down on multiple ads for the same shop which makes sense.

Nothing comes for free Matt. You need to spend a lot of time conducting research into what markets are performing well, what current trends are etc.

A lot of people tend to have a go at the affiliate schemes that bring in high commissions. Like finance or gambling. Problem is these areas are cluttered and are very hard to break into without a huge marketing budget (and I'm talking hundreds of thousands of pounds).

As I say look for some niches that are undeveloped and aren't cluttered. What will be the next big thing? What's huge at the moment? Where will you see some growth over the coming years?

A typical example of this is the Crazy Frog, he is always on TV at the moment and while he drives most of us crazy he is very, very popular and a good earner.

I hate that Frog! But what a fantastic example of succesfull niche marketing. The frog has been around years, but not as a frog. I recieved an email 2 years ago with that sound attached.

Just goes to show that you don't necessarily need a brand new totally original idea!
