Hi.

Just thought I would introduce myself to the forum.

I am a fully trained professional graphic designer who started his own business in July 2003.

I am always on the look out for new opportunities and am currently on the look out for new projects and partnerships with printers and web designers.

Plus this place looks like it is full of nice people and will hopefully give me some much needed information on business.

Welcome to the forum, I like the look of your site, clearly a professional effort and with a quality service and product such as you offer I am sure that you will prosper.

I wold make one reccomendation about your site though, you appear to have google ads on your site advertising your competition...!

Are these ads really generating any revenue? If not, dump them right away. Why give a potential customer a link through to a rival firm and an easy way to leave your site?

Do you receive many web design / marketing / development commissions? We work with a number of graphic design and print firms who resell some of our services and work in partnership to develop more complex database driven sites. If this would be of interest, don't hesitate to drop us a line.

I thought I would try the Adsense ads for a while, and you are right. The money I have made through the ads most likely have not covered the lost revenue from leaving visitors that might have bought my services.

I dont get much web design/marketing/development commissions at present, but if this changes il be sure to keep you in mind.

I know the pages are not valid. I never claimed they were. Its always been on my 'to do list'. But with everything its finding the time.

You could fix those issues in under 15 mins.

Which is why you should have done it in the first place, the idea is you would only need to edit one page (the style sheet). And in an instant you provide living proof as to why it is necessary.

Now imagine I am your client and I need a similar update, I have to pay for you to update 75 pages now. You just ripped me off.

Incidentally there are utilities and tools you can use to mass update your pages, but again as a designer offering your services I am sure you are already well aware of this.

Just pointing out a serious issue.

To be honest, if we delivered a non compliant site to a customer I would expect them to turn around pretty much straight away and demand the fix for free, not least because we would have delivered a site that is not fit for purpose... Not only that, but how professional would the client see you as being if as a web developer you were not developing to the legal standards.

These compliant issues are true. And in forsight I should have made it compliant.

However I am not a web developer, my main forte is print design. Which I have expanded to include web design which is not the same as being a developer or a programmer.

I do not appreciate my services being crapped on with assumptions.

If a client was not happy with the service that I provided I would either work free, or I would refund what was paid. This has never happened though.

Why do you offer web design services then? I take it you work closely with established experianced/qualifed individuals when producing commercial sites?

I take it http://www.aukett.com are aware of the accessibility issues with their site and the fact that they are possibly losing business and stumbling into a legal grey area because of the work you carried out for them?

Stick to print and logos mate =)
