Keep in mind that refills will invalidate your printer warranty. Many people swear by them and save a fortune but it is worth noting that if while using one your printer breaks, your stuffed! This also applies to any cartridge that is not HP! Epson do the same, money grabbing I know but their product and I have seen many people stung by it in the past.

Using a replacment ink cartridge wont void your warranty unless the cartridge was the cause of the problem. For example if the button on your printer breaks and you are using replacment cartridges you are still covered.

I just looked into it and you are correct, here is the HP article.

The issues I have had in the past often related to HP and Epson claiming the problems were caused by replacements or refills. I have seen this on a number of occasions (enough for me to remember the topic thats for sure).

It is worth noting that HP do not recommend their use. I could never recommend a refill to a customer because of this very matter.

I read in my wife's paper yesterday that printer ink is now more expensive that vintage champagne. Why do we let them get away with it? It's the same with DVDs; a fraction of the production cost of a video and yet a third more to buy!

I use Red Shark - heres your cartridges, not sure if it's the cheapest or not -

I know a guy who used to work in the printing industry and he was telling me how cheap ink really was, I was amazed that cartridges were so expensive! I was about to buy a large quantity from a supplier but there are shipping laws that go with it and it was going to cost a bomb....oh well, I could've been rich

just use compatibles.

refils are a waste of time in my opinion. the process is usually fiddly to say the least and time consuming.

compatibles give about 80% of the printing capacity for 10-20% of the cost
