Thumbs up Shell livewire awards 2011

Opportune Boost For Young Entrepreneurs

SINGAPORE - Young budding entrepreneurs and students stand to win up to $25,000 in cash prizes in the biennial Shell LiveWIRE Awards 2011. The award will help boost visibility and provide valuable networking opportunities for these entrepreneurs.

With the rise of youth entrepreneurship education in recent years, more are taking up the entrepreneurial challenge at a younger age. This year, a new category, LiveSPARK, has been introduced to encourage entrepreneurship amongst students.

Grooming Young Entrepreneurs for a Decade

Shell LiveWIRE celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit by grooming, recognising and rewarding young, innovative and promising start-ups. This prestigious award has honoured more than 30 budding entrepreneurs since its inception in 2001.

To qualify for the Top and Merit awards, the applicant must be 30 years of age or below and is a key executive partner in a business that has been running for a period of 12 to 36 months. To qualify for the Most Promising Enterprise LiveWIRE Award, entrepreneurs must be 25 years of age or below and have been in business for six to 12 months. More information on the Shell LiveSPARK and the Shell LiveWIRE Awards can be found in Annex A.

As the 2009 Shell LiveWIRE Top Award winner, Mr Leonard Tan, Founder & CEO of PurpleClick Media Pte Ltd, recently shared, "The Award selection process which involved training and face-to-face interviews with seasoned industry players helped me put things in perspective and gain valuable insights into business strategies and processes". In addition, winning the Award has also helped to increase the profile and visibility of PurpleClick Media.

Winners of the Shell LiveWIRE Awards who subsequently wish to expand overseas and build international links will also have the opportunity of tapping into the Go and Trade Grant, a separate initiative under the Shell LiveWIRE international programme.

The Shell LiveWIRE Awards is co-organised by Shell Companies in Singapore and the Institute of Technical Education, in partnership with ITE Alumni Association and Singapore Press Holdings Chinese Newspapers Division. Registration and more information on the awards are available online at http://www.livewiresingapore.com.sg.

Submission deadline is 19 September 2011, 12 pm.
