Latest updates to Shell LiveWIRE UK website (w/c 15th Nov)
1. Comments boxes
Previously, although members could leave comments at the bottom of News pages, Videos and Business Library articles, you couldn’t see this unless you were logged in. Therefore, we’ve just changed it so that if you’re a member, but aren’t yet logged in, you can submit a comment and login at the same time. (If you’re not yet a member you are prompted to sign up in order to comment). The aim of this is to make it easier for anyone to leave comments / user-generated content / feedback on the site, and also to encourage more non-members to sign up. ![]() 2. Changes to registration page We’ve changed the wording on the registration form from “Stay in the loop! I give permission for Shell LiveWIRE to send me information” to "Subscribe to free Shell LiveWIRE e-bulletins (you can opt-out at any time)" to make it even clearer to new members what this means. The default setting now is also to have this box ticked unless they manually untick it. (This is because we want as many new members as possible to receive our e-bulletins and stay informed, and the old way was unclear and creating more work for people in order to sign up. People can still obviously unsubscribe from our e-bulletins at any time). Furthermore, in an effort to reduce the amount of spam getting onto the Shell LiveWIRE Social Network and Discussion Forum (an ongoing battle), we’ve introduced a more robust anti-spam tool to the Registration page called ReCAPTCHA. This is the industry standard / best anti-spam tool around and you’ve probably seen it on sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, etc so fingers crossed it will make our lives a little easier and stop some of the spammers from signing up and posting stuff about Luis Vuitton, UGG boots and Coach bags!!! ![]() Paul Lancaster Web Development Executive www.shell-livewire.org
