RoyalMail Alternatives
Hi guys, I need to post about 10 Parcels that need to go in with the EU. They are quite valuable, and even though I have always used Royal Mail, and had no problems, I just wanted to find out if anybody had used another Courier, and they would recommend.
Royal Mail will be charging me approximately £10 per parcel for the Air Sure service, which says it will deliver with 2 working days. They are all under 1KG and are small boxes. I have tried Parcel2Go and a few other companies, but they are quoting at least £20 for a similar service. Does anybody know a cheaper alternative or a more safer and reliable alternative at a similar price? Thanks!

I use Bananadoo.com and then send through DHL Express - I send approx 850g packages to China on a 3 day service and usually pay about £16 if that helps

Try contacting DHL directly the sales team are keen to offer deals for new account especially if you will be sending items on a regular basis. I got an offer to send £100 worth of post for FREE great deal haven't required the service after that offer. When I signed up was researching a business venture with a partner decided it wasn't for me.

Did that include optional insurance perhaps?? It's still a good price, - if you were to track a 1kg parcel by Royal Mail to Germany I am sure it would be close to the same price?? I sent a tracked bra to America recently and it was £7!! It was only a bra!! :-O

Well, my parcel is actually about 600G, but even I base the prices on 1KG, RoyalMail will only charge me £6.60 (the basic service) + £4.90 (to upgrade it to the better service) = £11.50 and that is all inclusive and a 2 day delivery. But, for me it will cost £9.30 to Germany. I could also add Insurance and its still cheaper. :/ I came here looking for a Royal Mail alternative, and end up convincing my self Royal Mail may actually be OK!

Are you asking the courier to insure the packages? If you're sending them regularly it will work out cheaper to arrange your own goods in transit insurance.
Have you tried fedex? They can often be competitive for light packages as they specialise in business post. Another option could be DX, if your packages compare in size to document boxes.
