designers

is it just me or is anyone else getting annoyed with the unprofessional approach that clients take to design .!!
im sick of those who cant design gettin on a soap box to slate the work thats been done during a project.

eg. (i llove what youve done, but can it be a bit different
i like the colour scheme, but have you though of using blue?)

Just a new years grip folks, any one feeling like venting some anger please do so.

thats just though . i clients are never right.

we are right, then they agree and it results in them believing they were right all along .

your right it does come with the territory .

how's the site development coming along.??

are you working in all areas of design ?

By Client I assume you mean someone who pays you to design a website?

If so I think youre very wrong (with respect hehe). Clients are paying you to build them a site, its their site not yours. They have a right to ask you to make as many changes as they like.

I offer advice to my Clients but at the end of the day its very important to me that they get the site that they want.

SAY WHAT!

hi there. lol
with respect ? theres not need to butter up lol.

the thread is a grip, i make no apologies for my opinion, god dammm it LOL

na i agree . the project isnt mine to keep in a vault. but to be honest if i listened to all my clients needs and adhered to them as requested>?

there would be alot of pink and navy web sites, with 5 point text and bevelled yellow button, ya get me.

yeah i know its there site, but its also my name on the bottom, plus working on a bright blue and yellow colour scheme for 8 hours a day makes me a bit ill in the evening.

its only good design to ensure that your client get whats they ask for but without including their incredibly bad taste .

LOL

clients

Its a fine line - you have to on one hand give them what they want, whilst politely encouraging them away from what their site visitors will not want to see.

Its the type of joy you can only get by working with people :-)

It is a case of grin and bear it sometimes!

Some clients have very strong opinions on what's best for them, others are happy for you to decide for them. As long as you get a mixture of the two, you're ok.

At least what we do is never dull!

the joys of design

I think it was taken as light hearted, however we do like to chin wag you know ;-)

Re about work being fun. I think we designers should think ourselves lucky that we could be paid to so something that I personally find a great deal of fun.

Sometimes I'm drawing a picture chuckling to myself thinking "what madness is this that a world exists where I can be paid for drawing and enjoying it!!" - Ahh life is good :-))

Beats my sweat shop job hands down - selling mortgages for NatWest with mega targets, managers with whip in hand urging me to 'excel' my target, and complaining customers.

Regards

Amanda
