What advertising methods do you use?

I was curious to know what sort of advertising methods you all use for your business?

I personally use web adverts and such for my business, the funding isnt in place for local paper advertisements etc but it is helpful to get your name around the right parts, forums, link backs, that kind of thing

Hi, welcome back to the forum.

I work for LiveWIRE now but in my previous life I ran a catering and events company. I had a website, put adverts in the phone book and printed up postcard sized flyers which doubled up as my business cards. I used to regularly attend face to face networking events organised by the local chamber of commerce and picked up some good contracts and contacts at these. Hope this is useful, wherever possible volunteer your services in return for PR if this is appropriate and if you are having a launch event etc always make sure that you contact your local paper. They may be intersted and you could get some publicity and work from it.

I run a small company and the recession made me re-examine my advertising budget. I posted my project on AllPublicists.com (the most comprehensive database of publicists) for free, and got many low-cost offers from publicists. One firm for example, called Publicity Guaranteed (PublicityGuaranteed.com), looks like an attractive option, as they only charge for the results, without any retainers or hourly rates. Does anybody know about a good list of PR firms specializing in online publicity? I wouldn’t mind good coverage in traditional media but I count on a narrow budget now.

Ive just taken a look at allpublicists.com and its an impressive service they offer; not sure ill need it just yet but definately worth a look for those that do.
