Who is it targeted at? Corporate or joe public? Specialist entertainment or general, we'll arrange anything service?
You could just sit down with a dictionary and see if you like any words in there, then check the meaning. Then see if there are any new words you could make up. Don't ask others til you know what you at least quite like.

oh well marketeer i do apologise i have always thought this forum was about help and advice...next time i will answer my own question and then i'll ask you lot just to waste a little bit of time. you know answers like that drive me insane.....you can see why people get put off visiting forums such as this when you have people being so offish! this is also exactly why people dont ask for help and never forfill dreams.
the entertainment side is an onsite agency which represents and manages various acts from bands to comedians. the event section is deals with corporate events (although will have party and wedding plan section). Not that this really needs to be disclosed as i was asking advice on a name which wouldnt make a difference if it was for corporate or "joe public" as you put it! Rachael |

just thought its worth mentioning incase you don't already know that apparently every word in the english dictionary is a registered domain name... probably worth thinking about when choosing a name for your business

Quite frankly I'm a little baffled. Just what is someone looking for when they ask about help in choosing a name for their business? Someone to just suggest a good word or someone to point them in the right direction?
When a large corporate decides to change their name, they call in focus groups and throw suggestions at them after they have used "creatives" to conjur up words. How do the creatives do it? Like anyone else would - they sit and think. What else can they do? What is wrong with sitting down witha dictionary? Royal Mail spent millions on thinking up and implementing Consignia before realising it is awful and sterile. They would have been better served sitting down with the book. If you don't know what you "quite like" how is anyone going to know whether a suggestion is worth putting? And Event and Entertainment management is not enough to be honest. How does anyone know what strategy you are taking? Niche, Cost or Differentiation? It has implications on what your brand make-up is and so must tie in with your name. Think Costcutter, Kwik-Fit, Poundstretcher, Mothercare, Nike etc Names that were driven by how a company sees itself. An awful lot of agencies earn great money for old rope thinking up names for businesses. As an old tutor of mine used to say "Never trust a company that changes its name". Not true always, but a good starting point! I'm sorry if your mood made you think I was being less than helpful but there are necessary questions that need to be asked. Corporate decision making units work differently from the standard person, who works differently from the next person etc. I understand entirely what this forum is for. Didn't realise it was a word generator as well.

did you really need to add that in i apologised to you for being snappy....if you've nothing constructive to say dont bother posting!!!!
i know people register popular words then sell them on for a fortune though havent heard of people registering every word in the dictionary. Strange...but im sure rich people if its true! |

Apologies for not realising you had apologised to me and for my own churlishness. It was petty of me but I would have thought the rest of the post was useful.
Whether every word has been registered I would dispute. Words such as "cordoned", "undistinguishable" or "feted" (admittedly the last one is registered as a .com but not anything else such as .co.uk) don't seem to have. In fact I would have thought "feted" would fit both strands of your business at present, having connotations of praise for a performer and relating to a feast. However, it has the distinction of sounding a lot like fetid!

Xmas stress?
Wow this is the second rant on this forum today, are we all stressed over Christmas or something ;-))
We're not normally like this are we? I say that for the benefit of horrified onlookers, this amount of sniping is definitely rare, this is one of the best forums I've been on for people keeping it nice and civil :-) Regards Amanda |
