Help with adwords

Hey yall

I am needing a bit of help with adwords if anyone can assist. I recently launch my hypnosis website**SNIP** and I have started running adwords to get traffic.

On the site there are pages for smoking, weight loss and stress (plus others), so I have set up 3 campaignes to target each section.

I have put a £5 limit on each campagine so £15 a day in total, and I have put the bids around £0.25 on average. I have set the sets to appear in 40 miles of my postcode.

In over a week I hav only had 11 clicks, none of which have converted, although some people did sign up for the free MP3 download on the site.

I have put simple keywords such as "stop smoking, stop smoking hypnosis" and likewise for the others.

What I want to do is get about 30 - 50 clicks a day at about £0.10 - 0.15 per click. Does anyone think this is possilbe, if so how can I go about it?

Getting that number of clicks for such a restrictive area is ambitious
It is best to monitor AdWords on a weekly, fortnightly, and monthly basis, then adjust accordingly
Over the longer term you will then get more accurate CTR stats

What is the conversion rate per week?
I personally reckon anything over 1.0% is excellent, most people get between 0.5% and 1.0%
If it is below 0.5% then you need to adjust your campaigns

Well I have only had 11 clicks and no conversions as of yet. I have had people sign up to my autp responder though.

What changes would you make to the campagine at the moment? I motinor the adwords on a daily basis.

You really need to allow AdWords to work for at least a few weeks before you consider making changes
The changes need to be small and subtle, as I have found if you make large changes the campaign may use up all your funds with no benefit

Heres what I have done with mine...

Starter Campaign -
We21Nov07 - Sa12Apr08 : This was a previous campaign
I had 34 keywords and 27 ad variations, including 1 map variation
Result was 107 clicks on 145,524 impressions, 0.07%

Su06Apr2008 : This is my current campaign
Again, 34 keywords and 27 ad variations
So far 7 clicks on 12,040 impressions, 0.05%

Advanced Campaign 1 -
Fr18Apr2008 : This is my current campaign
This has 58 keywords and 34 ad variations
So far 36 clicks on 64,834 impressions

Advanced Campaign 2 -
Mo21Apr2008 - Su11May2008 : This was a previous campaign
This had 34 keywords and 27 ad variations
Result was 10 clicks on 25,438 impressions, 0.03%

Advanced Campaign 3 -
Su11May2008 : This was a previous campaign, based on placement
This had 1809 placements and 33 ad variations
The result was 1 click on 7,331 impressions, 0.01%

I upgraded to the Advanced version and tried placements and targeted campaigns but the results were lower than those I had experienced in the Starter Edition

Some keywords are "hot" and are expensive
When you work out the conversion rate, unless you have a large advertising budget, they are not worth it
I found the highest cost word was "map" at nearly £5.00 per click

In order to increase traffic:

-increase your cost per click to ensure your on page 1 of the search results.

-do more keyword research. Find words with similar meanings, high search volume, low competition, so your CPC is minimum.

-Start split testing your ads to increase your CTR.

Can I ask how I do search word research?

Here is the set up I am currently running;

I have three campaignes, one for smoking, one for stress and one for weight loss. Weight loss is the one I really want to focus on.

I have two text adverts for the weight loss, and both are performing about the same.

Advert one is;

Why are you still fat?
Want to really know, then read our
free info and learn how to change

Advert two is;
Want to be thin?
No pills, surgery or diets
Natural permenant weight loss

The stats for the last 7 days for is;

Advert 1
Served percentage = 52%
Clicks = 8
Impressions = 11,474
CTR = 0.06%
Total Cost = £2.52

Advert 2
Served percentage = 45.8%
Clicks = 6
Impressions = 9,684
CTR = 0.06%
Total Cost = £1.94

MCPP is 0.40p

I am only using 5 keywords, I don't really want to put them here though. Also the adverts only show in Manchester. As I offer a service where people have to come and visit me, I don't see much point advertising outside of my area.

Any help with this is much appreciated

I have listened to a load of Chris Cardel stuff and changed a lot of things round. I am now getting much better results.
