Import / Export / Organisational Structure / Logistics

Hi

I'm UK based and I've recently been presented with an opportunity to act as an import / export agent between a West African manufacturer and a far Eastern importer. I also have the benefit of having people on the ground, who can verify the various sources.

I would like to hear from anyone who has been in a similar venture and also learn from your experience, especially around shipping, documentation, payment logistics, etc..?

I would also like to form an organisational structure where the people on the ground are an extension of my UK operation. From a business setup perspective, how would I go about setting up such a structure? Company formation, tax, etc..?

There is something called passport to export that you should investigate. I actually went to a seminar about trading abroad last week and this was mentioned several times.
