It's a bit hard to answer without knowing what your business is etc.
Send it to the relevant target press - e.g. if you were selling women's make up you would send it to woman's magazines. You then have the option of sending it to them via email or snail mail.

Also, have a search through old posts on here and other business forums. If you're unsure on any aspect of writing a press release or just need some clarification you'll find plenty of useful information.
Once you've done your final draft always get someone else to check it through before you send it out so you know that any spelling mistakes/typos are picked up. Another pointer is to try and get a contact name to send it to, rather than just sending it and hoping the relevant person reads it. Hope this helps.

If you've never put one together before I'd suggest hiring a freelancer/agency (I know Nicola at www.allwords.co.uk does good work) and ask them to do it. If you just want the one simple release you'd be looking at anything between £50-300. Alternatively, if you haven't got spare budget, read this: http://www.pressdispensary.co.uk/how...FRMaEAod4lAV9Q
It's where I learnt to write from and it got me a starting job in PR at one of the UK's biggest agencies with only 1 month's work experience. Then flick through the publications you want to target and highlight the pages/features where you think you'd fit in. Take the journalists name from the feature, ring up the switchboard for the publishers (can normally be found near the contents with advertising contact details) and get their email address to send it off that way. You could hire a PR agency to do this all for you and they will obviously have more experience and contacts but it can sometimes be quite costly to get good results. HTH |
