changing to .co.uk?

I am considering changing my main site to a .co.uk
I am not too concerned about losing my top search engine rankings...however I am concerned that it just doesn't sound right

JustOneUK.co.uk ..... too many UK's?

I voted com, just cas of to many uk,co,uk.ci.uckcckc.

It hurt my eyes, and I'd prolly get it back to front.

Fair point about the search engine, but I think it also has a bit to do with where you site is hosted ( UK/ europe) or usa etc.

I may well be wrong thou, so best to ignore most of that

I would certainly keep it as .com

Keep it as .com. As long as you're hosted in the UK it won't damage your SERPs

It's hosted in Germany.

For that reason I am not too worried about the SERPs.
If I change to a .co.uk I will probably get even better SERPs, but .co.uk just doesn't sound right.

I appreciate that most visitors will either come through SERPs or just by clciking on links...so what's in a name?

It's doing my head in right now. I know it makes sense to change.

Hosting in Germany "shouldn't" affect your SERPs though.

Now if only you knew a hosting company in the UK

If you could offer me 20 GIG space, 200gig/month bandwidth, 10 FREE domains, unlimited sub domains, 24 hour phone support, 27 databases, 3000 mail boxes, a whole stack of other tools... and a partridge in a pear tree, for only £29/month, on unix servers (Yaks at microsoft servers!)...I would definately host with you

Your biggest package only has 800Mb space, 30 gig bandwidth, 40 mail boxes ... I am open to offers but I also use .htaccess for url rewrites...so need a 'nix server

Luckily I was burned twice by them, before I needed a website for business.

I think the added value with openmind, is someone knowledegable, who is actually able to solve problems right there, on the end of the phone.

That is rather than phone, email, get hung up on, no repose, late response, having it escaleted, still no fix.

Then.

General Template email that reminds you the second you signed up to 1and1 you sold your soul, along with all your rights.

Maybe they treat resellers better, but even using their mail this year has been a nightmare.

I have at least 4 seperate packages with them and something silly like 200 domains and 800 subdomains. Don't quote me on this but I think that if you have the professional package then there is a different number to ring. I have phoned a few times with questions and have had them all sorted immediately.
I wouldn't say they are the best host in the world but it suits my needs (and wallet) at the moment.

Hosting with Phil could be beneficial especially if you are just a little guy getting started and could need a personal helping hand. He does a good job from what I understand and not everyone needs as much storgage/bandwidth as I use.

I have never really been a great fan of resellers but it's great to see someone that does it how it should be done. The packages available just don't suit my needs.

Well I would make you an offer but I don't believe in overselling and under performance

I know this thread is going waaaaay off topic, but why sell such small amounts of storage space if you have 10 servers? I appreciate that a lot of people simply won't use the space... but should that matter to you?

Quite simple really. Two of the servers are client dedicated boxes, Two are purely web servers and the rest are for services such as DNS, FTP, databases etc.

That way everything is distributed and keeps the load on each box to a bare minimum. If I need to add a new webserver into the mix it's very quick and easy to expand.

Like I said earlier though, I never have, and probably never will, oversell and give away mountains of space/bandwidth for pennies each month as I would rather grow on quality rather than quantity.

No worries, I was just wondering.
Personally I wouldn't entertain a host that offers 400mb for a business hosting package (I currently use about 8 GIG hosting space), but that's just me. I am sure others would (and do) use less space.
