You've received an ecard from a School friend!
are these virus/junk emails taking over the internet?
I get them all the time now (or did before i trained my mail program) and everyone i know is getting them, have you been getting loads of these mails? |

Yes. I just ignore / delete.
Ever noticed that spam style is cyclic? Once the majority of spam filters have killed them off, they'll move onto something else.

They drive me nuts! How can I train my mail program to ignore them?
As someone who sells a lot on ebay, I used to get tons of emails from Chinese wholesalers trying to flog me stuff (probably three a day) but that's tailed off now too, thankfully. I think they just got bored of getting no response Julia |

RE spam filters - apart from my hosts normal blocking system I use "Spam Bayes" which you basically train to identify what is definitely spam, what is not and what is "iffy". I also use my outlook contacts folder with an autofilter as a backup that ensures anyone in my contacts list gets hoiked out of the spam/iffy folder automatically. It does very occasionally misfile the odd genuine email but I just try and ensure that I review the spams before i delete them all about once a week which doesn't take too long.
Takes a while to get it trained but once it does it works very well indeed and saves a lot messing about.
