DVD's
Hi
Does anyone know the legislation involving renting out dvd's ( like blockbuster ), are we simply able to buy them and legally rent them out ? Also anyone know if there are special suppliers of dvd's for the rental market or is it a case of buying them as cheacply as you can from wherever. Thanks Baz |

Yeah i saw a show on tv, where the owner of a video rental store had to pay something like £30 per rentable dvd which he thought was unfair, but because he could rent it out and make profit from it, the supplier required costs that high.
You cant rent out standard dvds, legally anyway. Not sure where you would source these from though. |

You may find the British Video Association website of use for your research. The website is http://www.bva.org.uk/ You would need to contact some nationwide wholesalers, one of which is S Gold and Sons and Entertainment UK - http://www.sgolds.co.uk/ You could also subscribe/get a copy of Home Entertainment Week magazine, and other trade magazines, where wholesalers are often advertising good dealer stock selection. Hope that helps. Nathan |

seemingly successful place near me is an automated video shop which is 24 hrs i think. Rather than the blockbuster layout you are faced with some terminals. Each terminal allows you to browse the collection - bang in your card which you have credited money on and out pops the dvd. It's in a good location right in the student area though.

I remember a few years ago rental copies used to cost around £60 each.

that seems a fair price when you think how much you could make from renting them
