Ideas please?
Hello,
I am very eager to set-up and run some type of small business in the near future...to gain some hands on experience of what business is all about. Unfortunately, I am off to a slow start. I seem to be struggling to find a simple idea? I am searching for a small, low capital start-up, local service/product type business even if it is part-time to begin with and no I do not expect it to make huge profits or run smoothly. As I said it is just to gain some basic experience. I appreciate my question is rather vast but if anyone could advise me on some ideas it would be very much appreciated! Many Thanks Mark |

if you're quite handy with computers and art then web design is a nice simple business, although everyone seems to be doing it at the moment so it'll be tough to make a massive profit from this

By background you may want to look at what you are currently doing..e.g. student, have a job ...what is it you do currently?
Any hobbies?

Hi Mark,
It's difficult to force ideas. I wanted to start a business for about 6 years before I setlled on an idea to go with. I had a few ideas along the way, just keep thinking and open to opportunities. Look for problems you can solve or find a business model you like and try and do it better. Browse the internet loads, it's a great source for ideas. Good luck!

Hello,
Thanks for the feedback. In terms of experience (if I can call it that) I taught as an EFL teacher for two years. I have just resigned from training with an insurance brokers as I realised IT positions are not for me. So, at the moment I have decided to work on a temporary basis for flexibility. In terms of hobbies I used to study the basics of two different languages ( basics!) but now all my time is spent learning about business or as much as I can. However, it is now time to implement the basic knowledge obtained. I have the essence of an idea...? Many thanks Mark |
