Livewire Contacts have MADE my business!

Hi Everyone

I just wanted to share with you how great I think Livewire is and the people that are on it!

A few months ago I set out on a project to create a new online bead shop.

I decided that in business you have to know what you are good at and what you are not. I am not too great at graphics design and my web design skills are pretty basic. So I put a few posts on livewire and found Amanda from Truly Ace (www.trulyace.com) to do my graphic design and Nathan from Blue Cube Media (http://www.bluecubemedia.co.uk/) to make it into a website. And here is the result...

I would love any feedback on the site and any recommended improvements.

I hope you dont mind me plugging Nathan and Amanda but when you see the results I am sure you will understand why they both come VERY highly recommended!!

Through making these contacts through this forum I feel I have been able to get the best start for my business! Thanks Livewire! I am sure I will be making many more contact in the future on here!!

What a fabulous site! It's so much more inspiring than walking into a Hobbycraft or other such bead selling shop. With the right search engine opimisation I'm sure it will be a huge success.

looks great - beads aint my thing but looks like a very trustworthy site to my untrained first impressions and if i was a 'beadster' would definitely buy from there.

Also i think with the amount of designers (graphic and web) on this forum its useful for us non designers to see what they have done.

What payment system is it using by the way?

Hi Guys...now you know why I've not been around on the forums for the last week or so...

The comments are really appreciated

The website runs on a Joomla / Virtuemart installation with a few additional modules and components including ARTIO JoomSEF.

We then had to do some custom modifications the main one being the bulk item module which also links into a stock control system....erm...I think that about covers it.

as a non crafty person i thought it was a very nice easy to navigate and find stuff product well layed out with good pics (so many sites don't have good pics!)

only thing i found a little confusing was some of the pricing:

to clarify (may be me being dumb here) :

looks to me like 20 beads for 1.10 but header says its 20 grams of beads for 1.10?! but this didnt make sense when i looked at the cost of the higher quantities? may be a way of making it a bit more obvious for idiots like me! lol

great site. i think it looks the part but a little tekky! i just had a flip about as if i was a prospective customer and nearly dropped out because you didnt sell clasps to hold stuff together. found them eventually under findings. never heard of it. i would suggest simplifying the terminology.

the books dont have prices marked. you only get it when you add it to your cart.

metre not meter. tut tut.

could do with some ideas section and possibly mixed bags. nick a few articles from the books. try and be a reference site. more information on products creates more involvement.
