Sending mass emails

I have a lot of email address for the market I am targeting. I was wondering, if you wanted to send out mass emails, like advertisements what kind of tool would you use?

Is there something you can use to send out mass emails - like say 500 emails out at once? The same email to 500 people?

What would you use to do that?

I'd use a server based script to send the emails. If you try do it from your home connection not only will it take a while, but your emails are unlikely to arrive due to mail server setups.
