Clothing store!
There's no doubt i'm a talented artist, however I simply cannot create garments that would meet customer needs. However it is a strong deisre of mine to work within the fashion industry, lately I've been looking for inspiration for a business idea.
My latest proposal was an online clothing store (aquiring a property when suitable). The company would operate on the basis of giving new artists/ fashion designers the chance to sell their work! A small amount of market research has been conducted in Newcastle Upon Tyne. The market research I conducted was showing shoppers (presumably) some artwork and some garments created by a number of talented designers and asking what they thought of the designs, saleability, prices, etc etc. typical basic market research questions. 2 people actually asked if we could sell them one of the t-shirts we had on us. We decided against the idea because we had no permission from the artist! The idea gives the artist the chance to promote/sell their artwork without starting their own business, promoting their products, offering customer service etc. what ya'll think? |

wow! I know a company called Rebelo that does that kind of thing. They're a pretty cool bunch of guys, I hear tell they operate in Newcastle/Sunderland.
I also heard they recently had an art exhibition to promote their artists. Went well by all accounts.

Although I've got plans for a line of decks in '07. Just becuase I'm doing it theres nothing to say you can't do it. Nothing like a bit healthy competition. In fact I'd be quite interested to hear what it is you have planned, prehaps we can work together or I can lend you some advice.

Hello,
As a new designer I've researched a few of these online stores and it is definatley the way forward, they seem to be springing up everywhere though so now is the time to get started. We've just linked up with www.urbanfashionhouse.com who seem to have a lot of the right connections but we are always looking for new stockists ! The more you can offer the designer the better, free fashion shows and promo are always a winner.
