What kind of player do they use on youtube.com, myspace etc to play their multimedia? is it some sort of flash player?

Thanks

They are FLV files that are being played using a Flash script.

You will need to convert your .wmv and .mov etc. videos to the FLV format by using your own PC (a server license for a converter is over the four figure range).

www.SWiSHvideo.com sell a converter program for your PC (this link is broken at present, so try this link instead http://www.swishzone.com/index.php?a...&product=video )

You will also need a FLV player flash script for your site, a good one is http://www.wimpyplayer.com/products/wimpy_av.html

A Youtube clone site costs a fortune, so at the moment is not possible for the average business (there are clone scripts for sale on getafreelancer, but they do not work).

there are simple ways to integrate multimedia in to your site.

if your looking at streaming media try having a look at windows media server 9

but if you just want to show a movie or play a song use the <OBJECT> tag.

This can be achieved by php and mysql

If your with a hosting company, best check what they say about streaming media. If the site is going to be used by a large number of people then this could put a high demand on their servers and there could be a chance of them cutting you off.

Everythin is achievable with Joomla.

THere's plenty of ways of doing it.

Perhaps get the users to upload to youtube and then use
