Links - Are they worth exchanging?

Do you get any more work/clients/visitors through other peoples' sites, who have got a link on there site of your business?

I was just wondering if it was worth swopping links with some of you/businesses?

In the short term link exchanges that I have been a part of have not brought in huge amounts of traffic or sales.

However, on the long term they will increase your website exposure and should help your own search engine ranking.. if the keywords are correctly set.
