Opinions on design

Hello,

Just wanted a few opinions on a new layout ive made for my website.

I could not attatch the file as it is too large so here is a link to it

The design is for a site aimed at 14 - 30 year olds worldwide.

it's nice, very clean and uncluttered.

why are you changing it, i thought the original is working well for you?

were developing the non-beta version of the site now, the current layout of the site didnt suit where we want to go with the site, the navigations would have become very cluttered. and the content was becoming a little unorganised. We're also cutting down on the amount of images uses to improve speed.

I just signed up, I can see this as becoming very large soon, so got a good name on it , it's definately more attractive to use than myspace, hate that website. I think your new design looks good, definately try to remove any clutter, right now on the beta it's good, but your new design looks spot on.
but keep it centred, i also quite like the blue gradient on the current one...

Thanks for your comments swoppershop, The new version will deffinatly be alot easyer to use than myspace and other similar sites, thats one of the areas we identified as being something that is very important if were going to be a sucessfull site!

Not that I'm a very good speller, but I'm guessing in the next release/update, the spelling errors will go? like on the image upload and tracking the ratings.

yea they will, been getting rid of them slowly, we had a bit of a rush on to get it done for the beta release date soo

Ooo Very nice

I'm liking the layout, colours, and navigation. Nothing worse then a website which rubish navigation, non-matching colours, and no sense of layout.

Keep up the good work, looks like its gona be great.

i would also defiately keep the "sign-up image" you are currently using, perhaps put it down in the blank left space?

i really like that image..and it has a certain branding to it also.

I think its an interesting point that myspace is so successful and yet can be a nightmare to use - the best doesnt always win.

Was watching a CNN article when i was on holiday about how networking sites will have a greater impact as a networking tool once mobile internet device (mobile phones or whatever else gets develops) come more into play. E.g you might be in the pub and your phone can alert you if someone from your network is in the vicinity. Dunno if you should be spending some thought into where technology might change and how you can utilise it as you don't want to be two steps behind where things are going.

Does anybody know any good resources about mobile interntet technology as i feel this is an area that i should get some knowledge about? I think .mobi domain names are being released soon.

That is because his is relatively new, and look how many users he got in a month, it's absolutely amazing, I think people will switch easily from myspace to facevault. Easier to use, more attractive, not sure about the flashchat, that one always bugs me, can you integrate digichat later on? I know the costs are high but its definately worth it, if you have the revenue.

yeh in terms of design it looks much better than myspace and i dont know how long its been going but lots of people there. Didn't have a long look at the minute but will def check it out.

I thought the current site was cool.
the problem with myspace is that now its sooo huge it has lost that unique feeling and its almost harder to newtwork. I think more niche sites with become more popular in future.

what kind of advertising/marketing have youo been doing for the site ?

I much prefer the new design to the current design.
