Good Graphic Design Laptop?
Hi ppl,
Im thinking of buying a laptop to do alot of my design work on, is there a good make out there for designers? Obviously I will need a 17 inch screen and a decent amount of ram, just wondering if anyone knew of any good ones out there? Regards Brett White

My business partner and I have the latest 17 inch ibooks for when we are out and about and they are beefed up to 1.5GB SDRAM and a 100GB hard drive. Works really well. Then in the office we have a 20" and a 17" G5.
But in the spring we are upgrading to the new Macbook pros. http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObje...ok&mco=B37DCED They are not cheap but nothing from Apple every is ! Jacqui |

Dell 9300 looks like a great choice. I'd recommend buying the upgraded graphics option (128mb Radeon x300) and the 1920x1200 display. I would only buy the basic memory option from Dell and buy an upgrade elsewhere - Dell's memory prices are OTT.
I bought the Inspiron 6000 with an upgraded 15.4" widescreen which is superb. I already had/have a 24" desktop screen which I use when I dock this machine so I decided to go for a 6000 over the 9300. My laptop only has 512mb RAM at the moment which I had intended to upgrade myself once I bought the laptop but having used it I found performance was ideal with the base memory (plus I had other bills to pay )Hope this helps.

I used to have a Sony VAIO which was great, however, I got rid of this for a normal desktop PC as my back and neck were causing me loads of problems.
If you are spending long periods of time at a computer I would recommend a normal desktop PC as chiropractors don't come cheap.

getting the new mac would be a problem as things like photoshop will not work on it yet, unless you run it in some kind of classic mode which would'nt be that great.
