what's the best multi-purpose colour laser printer?

As budgets are tight - I was wandering if anyone can recommend a colour "multipurpose" laser printer. I was thinking of buying a second hand one off ebay.
-It will mostly be used for printing out black & white invoices
-Some colour A4 leaflets/brochures and catalogues, business cards etc. So it would be good if it could handle card stock and specialist papers as well without getting jammed too often.

Are you after just a colour laser or one that does scanning and photocopying as well?

I don't think there are many second hand colour laser printers that can scan/copy/fax.
- But It would be great if I can get hold of one...

I purchased a Samsung CLP510 colour laser Printer a few months ago from "PC World", and I find it covers everything I need.

The print quality is excellent, 1200 x 1200 dpi, It's duplex enabled, has 64mb of memory which is expandable to 192mb, Card stock can be selected from the paper type menu in the printer settings, and it has a slot for a network card. etc. etc

It cost me £250.00 inc. VAT, but it may have come down in price as a CLP600 is now available.

I just bought a Canon ip4200 because my HP printer finally gave up on me and I needed one that could print card stock. It's a great printer it cost me £66 from Amazon.

My only problem with it is that it's a photo printer hence why it takes card stock. I don't actually need the quality that it prints as I printing for kids to daub paint all over the picture. but I think that's probably a problem unique to me!!

I am also looking for a printer too. i currently have a multipurpuse leximark i bought for £50 but the catridges are a killer. The printer is also very slow.

I am currently in need of a printer which can handle about 500 lettter in about 2hours. i have to spend the whole day printing with my current printer so i am also keen to hear what people suggest

Inkjet prints are normally, less sharp than laser prints (due to feathering), they can be prone to smudging/running when wet, they take longer to print than lasers (Lexmarks are pretty fast though) and they cost more for ink than lasers,

Laser toner cartridges are expensive to replace, but in the long term they are usually better value.

I saw on eBay HP 3330 LASER PRINTER / FAX / COPIER / SCANNER
I was outbid - and just as well as there appears to be many unhappy owners of that model.

See the Samsung CLP510 at PC world for £199. If there is anywhere cheaper please let me know

At £199+vat the Samsung CLP510 prints at speeds of 24ppm B&W, or 6ppm Colour, It also has a 250 sheet cassette, Or with the optional 500 sheet cassette you could set it to print and get on with other things.

Thanks for the help. How much does the catridge for the samsung cost and does it last last long. Thats the major reason i am trying to get rid of my leximark because the catridges are costing me an arm and a leg.
