Legal stuff (Web Design)
Ok here goes guys,
I am hoping to get my company finally off the ground in July. Warrior-Pig Web Design will be aiming at the young people market with the lowest prices for web design, hosting, domians etc possible. I also do flash too. What i need help with is the legal side of things. What tax do I have to pay and what is the ammount of money i have to have to start paying it on? What other legal things can disrupt it? Also, anyone know of a website in which I can design some simple business cards that i can print off until I find a good company who can do me a load at a good price? Many thanks in advance

Don't even worry about tax unless your gonna make 56k a year which i very much doubt you will for some time.
Second Try http://www.vistaprint.com for business cards There Cheap. Why not print your own buy the blanks from Office World or a stationary shop. I am guessing you have a decent printer and a copy of MS Publisher as your a designer .

Business Cards
I use www.laserclarity.com.
You design the card online and even upload your logo. Mine came back in a couple of days. Excellent Service and ideal for small quantities as they have prices that go from 50 cards - where as large Printing companies prefer to quote for large quantities. Matthew |

You will need to register as Self-Employed and pay the correct taxes. Take a look over at the HM Revenue & Customs website http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/selfemployed/ All the best Martin |

Martin's advice is spot on. I'd also recommend taking a look at Business Link's 'No Nonsense Guide':

As a webby you will also want to get all yourt contract in place for dealing with clients. Have a look at www.proposalkit.com as it not only give you all the necessary legal docs you can adapt but you can also create very effective proposals with it.
I would gues that using this kit has helped me win about 60% of the jobs I go for simply as it looks so professional and convers everything you need...
