Basically I am trying to sell a 10 set DVD course on how to make money form making 'How to' DVD's on specialist interest topics i.e. fitness, martial arts, etc. I will probably place the ad in business opportunity magazinge and I need a powerful headline.

Ok, IMHO all the headline above are quite standard, same old thing you see everywhere. That might be because they do work but I think you need something a little different to stand out, to show you and what you are selling is different.

Difficult as I am one to glance at these type of ads and move on but a headline like : 'YOU really can make XYZ with your camcorder, let me show you how'

Still not the best but I think you need something that speaks directly to your taget market with personal words like you, me & we. Hopefully others will be able to offer more advice.

Cheers,
Belinda

Thanks for the advice Belinda. My primary purpose is for the people to read the ad and go to my website. My website sales copy has a higher than average response rate so all I'm really interested in is getting people to my site.

Cheers

Headlines

Are they for direct mail? Emails? The format does affect the headline you would use.

The same old headlines are used again and again because they work!

The key to a great headline is touching people on an emotional level, showing them a benefit for example giving them 'secret' knowledge, saving money, avoiding and overcoming mistakes or embarrasment or worries, relatable headlines, overcoming/avoiding a fear, making big promises.

All of those lines sound like a scam advert in the back of a Sunday paper magazine or the "business opportunities" in Exchange and Mart. Ads like this appear week in week out and have been going for years so I guess they work for someone!

As others have said it depends on where it goes.

Naaa, Adams right, it sounds exactly like a scam. Its not bad if your aiming it at the ones who are silly enough to go for a scam. Brainstorm and be creative. Write down anything that comes into your head and play with it.

You want something that dosnt give them the whole story but just a taster that will make them want to know more and therefore visit your site. Maybe something like:

For free info on how to create a comfortable income with nothing more than a camcorder visit ...

See what I mean. I know its not catchy or anything but its spur of the moment, im sure you can come up with something unique in a day or two. There are some forums around that specialize in the generation of company names and mottos, they would be a creative source of ideas. Thats all I can think of right now so I will leave it there.

Good luck.

If you do go with that one then it probably would be a good idea to say trade secrets instead of just secrets. Trade secrets have more value I think.

Can I just make something clear: I am not running a scam. It is a genuine money making opportunity with a full 90 days money back guarantee. Does a Bill Myers sound familiar to anyone, well its one of his courses that I got Worldwide Rights to.

Im not saying your running a scam mate, im saying that every ad you have come up with so far is going to sound like one to people who are bright. As I said, If you want your ad to reach the dopey ones who go for scams then its perfect but as its not a scam you will want your ad to reach as many people as possible. By making it look like a scam you will limit the reach.

Actually, I take that comment back. The ones without a figure dont look like scams.

Make money with a camcorder.

Make 45000 in 6 months with a camcorder.

See the difference.

So how would I make it not look like a scam. Any suggestions? I mean these days all ads about making money look like scams. I think I'll test ads with a figure and one without a figure.
