Giving up the day job

Another day at work (in my full time job), thinking how much I'd prefer to be working on my own business ...

So, I'm just interested in how many people here have taken 'the plunge' already, how did they fund it, did they have a spouse / partner to support them, how long before they had an income from the business, at what stage would they recommend leaving work etc?

Or, are there others like me, working full time and hoping to quit?
