Vectra vs Astra Coupe vs Ford Focus ST 170

OK I'm torn. I'm buying a new car (well used but as I don't own it that makes it new...sort of...never mind) and I'm hooked on one of the three models above...

I've driven loads of Vectras before and I love the fact they have masses of room the styling is good and they have enough toys to entertain me.

I saw an Astra Bertone 1.8 Coupe today and was seriously taken by its looks and handling but the rear seat legroom is a little small. I have two kids you see but I could always strap them to the roof

The Ford Focus ST 170 is in my choices as my 16 year old said it was the mutts nuts and I would have to agree for a combination of ll the reasons above. Highest Insurance of the three above though.

Budget is £7K and I can get all the above cars at that price. Saying that if anyone has another suggestion, post away and help me make my damn mind up!

Gotta be the Vectra mate, lovely cars (especially the new one - but I doubt you'll get one of those for 7K ). Saying that the Focus is nice too, and the mark 1 ST is supposed to handle like a dream....

Although saying that our local Vauxhall dealer is doing brand new 05 reg Vectras for <£11K as the 06 came out today, shame I can't stretch an already stretched budget....

because I have one lol.... 02 plate, Paid £6k for it... I picked it on looks too... The leg room isn't to bad tbh... I'm 6'2 and it's fine for me...

Ive had nothing but trouble with Vauxhalls and Fords

How about a Golf GTTDI, 4 door, 1.9 Turbo Diesel 150bhp, 130bhp or even 110bhp, ample space, very quick (well the 150bhp and 130bhp are), look good (imho), and insurance is cheap coz they are diesel. 7k will get you an 01 or 02 I would have thought.

I would have to say the ford focus st170.
Its a great car and they are meant to drive superb. Its also easily the best looking.
But hey I might be biased since I own a Ford Fiesta Zetec.

How about a Renault Megane ? They are just about to release a new updated version so you can get the one thats out now for well under 9k right now.

I'd vote for the Focus Phil, nice little upgrade from your Fiesta! My brother's got one and folk's did too (mondeo now, more room for dog!) Lovely cars!

The Vectra is the car I have. Probably the most practical.

Astra Coup is nice but once you need to get the kids, wife and a few bags in the back the coup will be stretched.

Then there is the extra insurance.
