Hi guys,
Could anoyone give me a rough idea of how much an extra BT phone line would cost to have installed and run yearly/quarterly at my house?
We used to have a seperate line for the net before boradband was born, but had it stopped, so would it be possible to start that up again?
Thanks
Rich
p.s. I will also be looking for answer machines so if theres any reccomendations, please post them

An extra BT line costs £75 to install (they will come round and do it) then about £10 a month for line rental

i used to have one line coming into the house with broadband, the main number was the house number and you can buy 2 little boxes from BT, you plug them into your house phone and put one in your office, BT then assign you another number, so business calls go to your office number, home calls to your house phone, all on one line, and one line rental (important cost wise if your starting up)
I can't remember what the package is called though, but its from BT and costs around the £40 mark, give BT a call and they should be able to tell you, i will post again if i think of its name :-)

And here was me about to order a second line via the bt.com site tonight. So glad I checked here first. Cheers MailOrderCo, you've just saved me a small fortune :)

BT offer a thing called call sign as a £1.75 per month add on, it gives you a second number on your existing line and rings with a different ring tone, so you know whether it is work or personal.
Cheaper way of getting a second line

I have just bought this http://www.deltacom.co.uk/hwfs002.htm it allows your second line to automatically identify if it is a fax or phone call, it automatically routes it to you fax without ringing your line.
I now have twin talk, call sign and this, which gives me a home number and a business phone / fax
Cheap as chips compared to a second line, installation and extra rental
