starting up an entertainments business- the legal side [Archive]

I am currently setting up an entertainments business. I will act as a fixer and, through marketing, provide artists for occasions - weddings, corporate events etc. Finding artists to represent isnt a problem and I have enough general business knowledge from previous employment. I need help however on the legal side with regards to drawing up contracts (temporary) and with setting fees. Any ideas on where I can find information on the cut I would be able to take as an agent and how much I can charge per gig?

Hi,

When you registered with Shell LiveWIRE, did you select the Business Opportunity Profile (BOP) on setting up as an Entertainment Agent? In the BOP, it says that an agent can expect to take between 5 and 20% of an artist's earnings.
