Marquee Hire Business

Hello everyone,
This is my first post so please be nice!

Anyone out there know anything about the above biz? Can't say i know an awful lot about it, but would appear to be relatively low risk to start and with good profit margins given the initial capital outlay etc. A friend of mine mentioned about starting in this area recently and the more i think about it the more i think it could be a nice little part time earner. What do you guys think? Anyone any experience or thoughts?

Two questions:

1. How much does a marquee cost?
2. How much can you rent it for?

All you need to do is decide how many times you need to rent it to get payback. Also keep in mind that if someone needs a wedding marquee etc it may need to be massive, if you have only one size you may be quite specialised / limited in your earning potential.

Probably very seasonal as well. You may be able to buy a cheap one now but wont get much use out of it until summer next year.

as an eg a 20 x 20 marquee is approx £2000 and would rent for approx £200 per day. Not sure about all other costs such as insurance etc.

I guess ebay would be a good place to look.

Hi, before you start I'd scout about your local area and find locations that use marquees for functions and get down the day before the event (typically when setup will start) and see what's what (and find out what the relationship's like between location and marquee supplier!).

A good approach would be to build good links with outdoors / event caterers as they not only hire marquees but could advise on things that you may not have thought about (eg having more than 1 entrance as you don't want the beer and ice coming through same entrance as guests).
