I'm only 15 and i want to start my own business but people dont take me seriously.I was wondering if you think i should hold it off for a few years untill im abit older? Although it might not seem like it i am determined but if its not realistic than maybe i shouldnt waste my time

Hi,

It all depends on what type of business you are looking to start up. On the discussion forum, there is a Scottish lad called Fraser who has successfully set up a home-based business selling jam, and I believe he started doing this when he was 14.

Hello Happy Shotters,

It's definitely do-able I think and good on you for being determined. It took me until the ripe old age of 30 (!) to get started, but now I wish I'd done it sooner, so I think there's nothing wrong with getting cracking young. I wouldn't be too worried about people not taking you seriously, in that I think all of us have felt people haven't taken us seriously at some point, whether it's due to our gender, race or age, but it shouldn't hold you back. Admittedly, you may struggle with banks, but there are plenty of people out there who will take you seriously - we do for a start! Have you had a look at the Prince's Trust? They help 14-30 year olds, so it might be worth you going to www.princes-trust.org.uk and getting in touch with them. Good luck with your idea and I hope this helps,
