Hello Asentongo,

I think you may be referring to the fact that The Law Society runs a scheme called 'Lawyers for Your Business' which has 1200 member solicitors who offer a free initial consultation - see www.lawsociety.org.uk for more info on this. I actually tried this service myself, and although they sent me a list of lawyers in my area it wasn't really very useful. This was because I wanted a specialist new media lawyer, and they couldn't tell me who specialised in what, and also I found the lawyers on their list were quite expensive once one had done the free consultation.

If you need a specialist though, you might want to try typing 'solicitor Middlesex' into a directory such as www.yell.co.uk. This should give you a list and then you could look at their websites to see if they give information about free initial consultations and what their specialisms are. www.solicitors.co.uk also has a directory of solicitors throughout the UK where you can search by postcode and specialism and www.startups.co.uk has some useful info on how to choose a solicitor.

Often the best way to find a good solicitor though is word of mouth - have you tried asking your local Chamber of Commerce or Business Link, and any friends you have who are starting up businesses in your area? I hope this helps,

Shellfish
