I recently started a sole practice offering high calibre legal consultation services at realistic prices. I have 10 years post-qualification experience in company/commerical and finance work and have been practicing on my own for about 2 months. My target market is start-up or other cost-conscious businesses who are looking for legal services without the "City" price tag. I currently have three active clients and all of my work has come by word-of-mouth.

I would like to begin doing some marketing. My initial thoughts are to attend networking meetings and other business forums, but this is out of my area of expertise and I do not know how to locate such groups. Does anyone have any ideas how I can market my services?

Hi,

For networking, it may be worth contacting your local Chamber of Commerce:

Most hold networking events, such as breakfasts, evening meetings, etc.

Online, I know that Ecademy is very popular:

Hello mcstjb,

I attend some really useful networking things run by my local Business Link too where I think you'd find just the kind of clients you're looking for. There's a programme called Raw Talent, which is essentially business celebrity type speakers, and then there's something called the EntreNets, which is a kind of ideas exchange cum brainstoming for small businesses every few weeks. I'm not sure whether your own local Business Link will run similar things, as some are region specific, but it might be worth you getting in touch with them to find out,

Thanks -- that is really helpful. Just the sort of links that I was looking for!
