hallo,

i currently have a good job. however my dream has always been to open a business. i was considering opening a franchise with subway in a small town outside birmingham. do you think this is a good idea. do you think i could still carry on with my current job and employ managers to run the franchise. and finally is a subway franchise a profitable business to be in.

Hi,

I recommed doing some market research, eg does the small town need another sandwich shop, how will you differ from the competition, etc. I would also suggest that if you're going to open a franchise, then you need to be prepared to give up your current employment, in order to gain a full insight into how the business operates, etc.

There is loads of info about franchising on the web, and I also recommend attending at least one franchise exhibition, and perhaps one franchising seminar, in order to find out if this is for you. The following links may be of interest:
