From reading articles on businesses set up by London graduates such as Peter Jensen, Kim Jones and Siv stodol they seem to have set up their own brands, producing and selling abroad, getting major press from international fashion publications all straight from graduating. How did they do this?

Most have also had their collections shown in Paris shows such as Mens wear fashion week straight from graduating. Is there an agency which helps direct you into this direction? How does one get funding for such shows so quickly? It cant just be good organisation and networking skills from one person (the designer themselves). Where do they get the help?

Im thinking of applying to a london business course before setting up my own label. Thats my way of getting my self started. But it seems as though there are other ways of getting there. Where do i start?

Confused Mens wear designer!?!

Hi,

I suggest that many of these designers got recognised very quickly via help from their place of study and fashion shows, etc, arranged while they were students. The publicity and networking opportunities generated by such things would be a big help upon graduating.
